CAMP
At Swift
Nature Camp, we carry on the tradition
of Ernie Swift, who strove to preserve
and teach environmental awareness.
Ernie began as a Conservation
Department Warden and eventually rose
to serve as the department's director.
He was appointed by President
Eisenhower as assistant director of
the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and
later became Executive Director of the
National Wildlife Federation.
The
Wisconsin summer camp was founded
in 1964 by the Department of
Natural Resources (DNR) as part of
the Youth Conservation Corp.
Today, under the guidance of
Directors Jeff & Lonnie
Lorenz, S.N.C. offers boys and
girls old fashioned traditional
summer camp activities along with
an environmental focus. While the
property and facilities are still
owned and managed by the Wisconsin
DNR, the Lorenzes and their
team have developed a Fun, active
and educational program within a
camp setting. An active Nature
Center, Pet Zoo and DNR sponsored
programs along with host of
recreational activities including:
Canoe & Backpack Trips,
Horses, Swimming, Arts &
Crafts, Team Course, Archery,
Sailing, Skiing, Tubing and Sports
Activities create a well-rounded
summer camp experience for
children ages 6-15.

"Our
goal is give children the
opportunity to BE in nature first
hand and ultimately develop a heart
felt reason to preserve and protect
it." Lonnie says. "Thereby
continuing the legacy of Ernie
Swift". Our goal is that each
child that comes to SNC feels
listened to and a cared about."
